Day 2 - Amusements

As you can see, things are much easier for road trippers in Kennywood Park. This was the place that Phill chose to take us for our first day in Pitts, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Kennywood Park was bought in 1898 by the company that ran the trolley system in Pittsburgh, because it was a place at the end of all the trolley lines that would provide the recreation area with easy access to the public. Over the years it has grown and changed, but never has undergone a total major overhaul. Thus, it still retains some features from the original park, like the snack stand which was opened in 1899 and the carousel dating from 1926. Of course there are also delights such as the newer steel rollercoaster:

And naturally the river rapids ride...
After which our bedraggled protagonists valiantly continued to the various snack stands, eating our way through pretty much everything it's possible to consume at a theme park for only about ten bucks. Gotta love those non-coastal prices!

If it had been me, I would have snapped a pic of the carousel, or perhaps the early-20th-century facade (preserved intact) of the "Racer" wooden roller coaster, which runs two trains on parallel tracks. However, the incredibly gifted lady (Michelle) who was in charge of photography that day bypassed these mediocre shots for one far better, one that I think captures our day in a nutshell.
She thought it looked like the kangaroo mascot was following these people. Ha ha.

Till next time, adventure fans...

Hi you two "smiley" people...I tried to leave a comment yesterday, but knowing the computer wiz that I am I guess I did something wrong. Say hi to Phill, and ask him when he has time to send those pics to my email
auntmeow123@sbcglobal.net. It looks like you're having a good time, but remember honeymooners are supposed to smile a lot..:) Love, Mom

Hi mom, we got your message yesterday! And, yes Lucas and I have been smiling, but we got soaked on that rapid ride (that's why we're sad in the picture!) Talk to you soon!

Dear Chelle Bell and Lucky... seems as if you are having a great time already! Yea.

Kimiko and I are in Sarasota area for my good friends wedding, "Two weddings in two weeks", maybe an up and coming play or full length movie.

I'm so happy to have been there for the wedding.

Love, Mike & Kimiko.
